It was built by Count Wolfgang II of Hohenlohe in the 16th century on the foundations of an old castle surrounded by water.

The baroque interior decoration, the riches in objects d'arte and the castle grounds date back almost a century to the times of count Carl-Ludwig.

The ancestral seat of the counts of Hohenlohe has been in Weikersheim for many centuries.
A guided tour through the castle, especially due the impressive knights' hall, which is one of the few well preserved banqueting halls dating from the high tide of German castle buildings is well worth seeing!

The magnificent castle composition with the orangery, the Hercules fountain and the gnome gallery is called "Versailles of Hohenlohe".

Numerous impressive stone sculptures decorate the symmetric picture of a perfect garden and landscape architecture.
